OPs get together in London and Auckland.
In London 80 OPs attended the 58th OP Dinner, held on April 20th in HQS Wellington on the Embankment in London. In balmy Spring weather, the gathering met on the quarter deck for pre-dinner drinks before going below decks for an excellent three course meal.
Speeches were made by OP Chairman Mark Dumas, Guest of Honour Patrick Derham and the Headmaster of the College Thomas Garnier. Among those attending were Peter Points and Peter Politizer (flanking Patrick Derham) as well as the chairman of the Wellington Trust, OP Capt. Steve Taylor, and guests from the Naval Club and the Old Conways. Photos of the event have been posted in the Gallery section of this website.
In Auckland six OPs gathered in the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron April 21 for a relaxed lunch organised by the OP Rep in New Zealand Nick Edwards (55-58). Those present in addition to Nick were Phil Hickling (53-56), Robin Paine (55-58), Craig Peploe (78-80), Barry Thompson (42-45) and Val Were (38-41). Five apologies were received indicating interest in attending any future gatherings.
