07/01/2010 PangbourneAfrica expedition prepares to depart
Three OPs plan to drive 30,000km to raise funds for charity

David Keith-Welsh, Geoff Popple and Nicholas Vaudrey, who all left the NCP in 1962, together with two others, will begin a journey through Europe, the Middle East and Africa from the College parade ground at 12 noon on Sunday January 31st. The departure will be followed by a get-together with supporters and friends at The Swan in Pangbourne village.

One of the purposes of the four month expedition is to raise funds for two worthwhile causes - the College's Network with Notes campaign to raise £2 million to build an IT/Music Centre; and the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town - the only specialist Hospital dedicated entirely to children in sub-Saharan Africa. Donations to both charities may be made through the JustGiving website.

Known as the PangbourneAfrica expedition, the team will cross 17 countries in four months using two Toyota Land Cruisers. Its pogress can be followed on the expedition's website at http://www.pangbourneafrica.co.za
