David Nicholson (64-68) takes part in successful event.

David Nicholson (64-68), the HR Manager of Petroleum Geo-Services, was one of 47 representatives of companies, universities and other organisations exhibiting their wares at the annual Careers Fair held at the College March 11.

Among those also in attendance were the Thames Valley Police, the Royal Navy, the Army, the Royal Air Force, Cable & Wireless, IBM and KPMG. Further education institutions present included the universities of Southampton, Westminster and Cardiff. Several gap year organisations such as Aventure, Art History Abroad and Frontier took part as did representatives from the charity sector, engineering, the civil service, public relations, banking, catering, graphic design, dentistry, hospitality management, the wine trade and the law.

The Fair opened at 2.00pm following a buffet lunch in The Yellow Room for the exhibitors which was attended by the Headmaster Thomas Garnier and lasted two hours. There was good attendance by pupils throughout the afternoon.
"I had several interested parties asking what qualifications are required for a career in seismic contracting ," David reported later. "On a couple of occasions I was surrounded by enthusiastic and well mannered young lads of about 15 who were intrigued by my company video and just as enthusiastic when they discovered I had been in Macquarie Division - excellent ambassadors both for their parents and the College...The Head of Careers, Joe Lewis, is to be congratulated on putting together a well run, fun event."
