Barney Spender (76-81) agrees to edit OP magazine
Barney Spender, a freelance sports journalist and radio presenter who has reported for The Independent, The Times and The Sunday Times, has been appointed to edit the OP magazine. He takes over from the OP president Robin Knight (56-61) who edited the magazine 1987-98 and also oversaw the introduction of the new full-colour A4 format magazine used in Issue 40.
Barney worked for Reuters earlier in his career before going freelance. He has covered most sports but specialises in cricket. Some years ago he produced a handsome coffee table book on Test Match grounds around the world with the Australian captain Steve Waugh. Until recently he was based in Athens but recently relocated to Paris.
