Second OP involved in efforts to save the ship
.aspx)
A letter from David Inglesby FRCS (67-71) to the OP Society has highlighted the efforts currently being made by the Sunderland City of Adelaide Recovery Foundation (SCARF) to preserve and restore this former Devitt & Moore sailing ship.
David is vice-chair of SCARF and lives in Sunderland. He writes that the ship "is a unique document of regional, national and international social history (which is) of utmost importance. We all have a duty to past and future generations to save her."
SCARF now needs "just 1,000 good people each to pledge £1,000" to bring the 'City of Adelaide' to a place of safety for preservation and subsequent restoration as a thing of beuty, inspiration and use. Duty will then have been done." Any OP who is interested in helping this campaign should access the SCARF website at
