The dinner at the Hurlingham Club was an outstanding success. It is a magnificent venue for a large gathering, and our thanks are due to Niall Kilgour (64-68) for allowing the OPs to use its facilities. Thanks also to the hard work of Lindsey Hughes, the arrangements worked perfectly for the largest gathering of OPs I have ever known.
It was a very emotional occasion for me, for I knew all but half a dozen out of the 160 OPs present. So there were many that I never managed to meet. After 40 years or so, some were totally unrecognisable, while others looked unchanged from the cadets that I remember. At dinner (which was excellent) I sat between two OPs who arrived as cadets the same term as I did as a new staff member. There were OPs from Australia, Singapore, South Africa and the United States. After staying the night with an OP in East Sheen, I travelled home with the 'mouse' from my new computer, a toy mechanical mouse (for my second childhood) and a magnificent inscribed tankard which I christened without delay. I thank all those involved in giving me such an unforgettable evening.
