Now in its fourth year, the OP T20 cricket match versus the college has established itself as one of the highlights of Founder’s Day – and this year’s match didn’t disappoint.

OP's from the 1950's meet in The Flower Pots and more events are planned!

On the 15th October some 7 of the 1950’s leavers from the NCP (as it was back then) gathered at The Flower Pots pub in Cheriton for a get together and reminisce.

The Flower Pots, in case you’ve never been there, is an easy pub to find – the second time!  It is very friendly, serves excellent food, and has its own brewery.

We had hoped to have a few others with us, the most unfortunate drop out being Simon Dyer who fell off his horse at a gallop and broke a couple of ribs!  We’re hoping to see him at the next meeting.

Attendees were Jeremy Daniel, Peter Hughes, Ted Daubeney, Stephen Norris, Hugh Powlett, Richard Waldron and myself.  Many of us had not seen each other since leaving the College, so there was a lot to catch up on, and to hear what had happened in the intervening years.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and I have since had a number of emails saying they wanted to repeat the experience, so I am thinking about something next year.

Our next Meet is at The Kings Arms in Charlton Horethorne (between Wincanton and Sherborne) on Monday 14th Dec., which should suit anyone living between Bath and Swanage.  If anyone (not already booked) would like to attend, would they please get in touch with me first; adrian.stow@btinternet.com

I am also hoping to organize something for the London and Essex guys around end Feb / early March; it will be at The Bell at Horndon-on-the-Hill. Essex.  An excellent pub with a fine menu, which is run by John Vereker, an OP.
