A little while ago a proposal to set up an OP Yacht Club was unanimously approved by the OP Society Committee, writes Ian Williams (61-63). We also wanted a burgee that would be immediately recognisable to OPs and display our strong links with the College. After much debate we decided to stay true to the OP “Devitt & Moore” flag and launch the club accordingly.

Sailing

If you sail yachts or dinghies we would like to know!  We have been challenged by the College and need to put together enough sailors from which to draw a team as and when the fixtures can be organised.  Contact Charlie Parry at parry1@gotadsl.co.uk

In 2008 we entered The Arrow Trophy for the first time (an annual inter school old boys yacht race held in the Solent at the end of each season) and didn't do too badly.  However we lost our deposit in 2009!  We need experienced sailors!  Contact Ian Williams at woofwilliams@yahoo.co.uk if you would like to join in.  See www.arrowtrophy.org.uk for more information and the 2008 race results.
