Close encounter enjoyed by all.
On the 8th December the 1st XI Girls Hockey team welcomed the OP Ladies to play the annual fixture writes Lucy Hamblin-Rooke (01-08). The afternoon was very enjoyable and many laughs were shared amongst the OP’s who have not mixed together for a long time. We had leavers from 2006 right the way through to leavers from last year, so it was a good mix of ages.
The first half proved to be a bit of a shock to the system and the OP’s found themselves longing for half time. Of course the 1st XI are in good shape and had a consistent game plan, showing a solid structure which was difficult to break down. Eventually, the OP’s managed to play some spells of good hockey and the score line was 2-2 for a large part of the second half. After a long period of pressure from the 1st XI, the OP’s managed to counter attack and score the final goal of the match, resulting in a 3-2 victory for the OP’s.
I would like to thank all of the OP’s who came along; all your support is much appreciated. Some photos of the teams may be viewed in the Gallery section of this website.
