O.Ps Cricket Match 2011
The annual cricket match held on Founders’ Day between the O.Ps and the College XI proved once again to be a great success.
This year’s O.Ps side was made up of a mixture of old and new leaves from the College, with the bulk of the side coming from the last two years. The College won the toss and decided to bat first, in the shortened 15 overs as side game. Tom Bishop batted excellently, like he has all season, making a classy 46 runs. The O.Ps bowling attack looked young and energetic with Tom Forsdike leading the attack with figures of 2 for 17 off 3 overs. The College finished their 15 overs on 95 run for 5 wickets.
The O.Ps opened the batting with Phil Walden and Joe Reid who got the team off to a steady start. The College bowled well, taking wickets at regular intervals. Needing 9 runs from the last over the O.Ps finished 1 run short in an exciting final over.
So the College won the game for the first time in three years. It was another good spirited match and one that the spectators and players enjoyed. We look forward to what next year’s match has in store.
